In the 1990's Steve and Rebbeca Copenhaven lived in the spacious 3 bedroom home located at 7565 Fern Hill Ln in Morgan County.
They had 3 children Robert 13, Emily 9 and 2 yr old Susan.
Their closest neighbor, the Rileys, lived 5 miles north on Lick Creek Rd.
Mr. Riley stated he would see Steve sometimes when he was out gathering wood.
In the winter of 1996 Steve had not shown up for work in two days. His employer,
Brown County Lumber had tried several times to reach him but was unsuccessful.
Steve's manager contacted the local sheriffs department as asked if they could check on him and his family.
When deputies arrived they found an open door to the kitchen. Deputies went inside and was shocked to find the entire Copenhaven family murdered.
One deputy described a horrifc scene with little Susan lying next to her xylophone in a pool of blood.
The Copenhaven estate set vacant for several years until a local tourist company purchased the property to rent
out to people wanting to get away and visit Nashville, Indiana. Some say the house is haunted. Sometimes at night Susans can be heard playing with her xylophone and others have said they could hear a small child paying in the hallway.
Update: A person of interest has been identified but local authorties have not been able to locate him.
